Lloyd Paxton, 86, of Marshalltown, died Thursday morning, August 23rd, at his home. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28th, at the Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Lothe officiating. Ph 844-1234. Born on May 12th, 1921, in Montour, Iowa, he was the son of M.J. and Irene (Wall) Paxton. At a young age, he moved with his family to Marshalltown where he received his education. During WWII, he served our country proudly with the medics and engineers in the United States 14th and 20th Army Air Force Divisions in California, the Hawaiian Islands and Okinawa. He received his honorable discharge in 1946. On March 24th, 1946, he was united in marriage to Erma Kelsey. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed at Bos Truck Lines and retired from Halls Motor Transit as a proud teamster. He was also a member of the Hope United Methodist Church, the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46, the Marshall Masonic Lodge AF&AM, and the York Rite. Lloyd loved to read, travel and never met a stranger. His family meant everything to him and he loved them with all of his heart. They too, loved his with all of theirs. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Erma, his daughters: Linda (John) Yantis, Nancy Stevenson and Patricia Weiss, four grandchildren: Jessica, Matt, Allie, and Corey and three great-grandsons. In death, he has rejoined his parents, a brother, a sister, granddaughter Sarah Yantis and son-in-law Dennis Stevenson.
