Lois J. Casey, 92, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 23 at The First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be at 10:30 AM with services at 11:00 AM. To leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Born Lois June Stilter on March 12, 1929 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Jarett and Bertha (Hurley) Stiltner. Growing up in Virginia, she graduated from Garden Creek High School. After meeting the love of her life, Arvil Casey, they were united in marriage in 1948. Fifty four years ago they relocated to Sioux City, Iowa, where they raised their family. Lois was a loving wife and mother. She was employed with the Department of Human Services for the state of Iowa until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her free time, Lois enjoyed fishing, playing cards and reading. Lois and Arvil also enjoyed traveling the United States and spent their winters in the south after retirement. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Anita (John) Froehlig and James (Julia) Casey; grandchildren: Priscilla (Jon) Thompson, Craig Casey and John “Jack” Froehlig; great-grandchildren: Wally, Gracie and Parker Thompson; siblings: Keith Stiltner, Dean (Pat) Stiltner and Joanne (Basil) Miller and several nieces and nephews. In death, she is reunited with her beloved husband, Arvil; her son, Michael Casey and her parents, Jarett and Bertha Stiltner and brothers, Lowell and Jerry Stiltner.
