Lois Marie Damman, 92, of Marshalltown, and longtime resident of Southridge Specialty Care, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Memorial services for Lois will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi- St. Henry Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 25 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a rosary at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Lois Marie Nowlan was born on September 13, 1930 to George and Josephine (Kutter) Nowlan at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown. Lois lived on a farm east of Colo and attended country school through 7th grade. She was a member of the first kindergarten class in the Story County schools. Lois then attended Colo High School and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. Lois went on to work at Mercy Hospital until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Glenn Damman on August 18, 1956 at St. Mary Church in Colo. They had met each other at the Forest Park Ballroom. Together, Lois and Glenn farmed south of Melbourne. She enjoyed raising chickens and ducks as a young girl. Lois loved to cook and collect cook books, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed all things to do with chickens.
Lois is survived by her son: Charlie Damman of Melbourne and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; parents: George and Josephine and siblings: Barbara Freese and George Nowlan.
