Lois M. Teckenburg Paxton, 89, of Union, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Oakview Nursing Home, with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services for Lois will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Union Community Church in Union, Iowa. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services, where her family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Loiss name to the Union Community Church, Union Public Library or Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, Iowa. The Mitchell Family Funeral home is caring for Lois and her family. Lois Teckenburg Paxton was born on May 31, 1923, the daughter of Delbert and Cecilia (Miller) Gould. She was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School. After high school, Lois went on to graduate from beauty school in Marshalltown. On October 25, 1941, Lois was united in marriage to Richard Teckenburg in Canton, Missouri. Lois was a hard working woman, working as a cook in the Whitten School. She owned her own beauty shop in Whitten, and later worked for Joe and Barb Knight as a beautician. She took early retirement at the age of 80. Lois was a member of the Union Community Church and the Red Hatters. Lois had true passion for cooking, playing cards, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. Her granddaughters were all known as her Dollys. Lois is survived by her children: Danny (Bobbie) Teckenburg, Rick (Mollie) Teckenburg; daughters-in-law: Judy and Marilyn Teckenburg; two step-sons: Perry and Palmer Paxton; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents, Delbert and Cecelia; two sons: Wayne Teckenburg, (C.L.) Butch Teckenburg; one great-grandson, baby Jakob; and six brothers.
