Lois Starr

Lois Starr, 82, of Marshalltown, died late Saturday night, December 25th, at the Villa del Sol with her loving family at her side. Her death came peacefully at 11:23 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30th, at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Lois and her family. Phone: (641) 844-1234.Born on March 3rd, 1928, in Sterling, Colorado, she was the daughter of Clayton and Gladys (Booker) Forsythe. In 1958, her mother was united in marriage to Richard Anderson. She received her education in Moulton, Iowa. On November 24th, 1945, she was united in marriage to Elmer Starr in Centerville, Iowa. They made their home in California while he was in the service, returned to Iowa and then to Marshalltown in 1962.That same year, she began working at Marshalltown Manufacturing until departing there in 1981. Lois was last employed from 1993 to 2008 by Meskwaki Bingo and Casino/Hotel at Tama in the housekeeping department, assuring guests of a quality overnight stay. She was raised in the Baptist faith and treasured her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Eleanor (Gary) Parizek of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fran (Scott) Trittien, Charles Starr and Joyce (Kevin) Nisius all of Marshalltown, her grandchildren-Brandi (Brian) Hoskins, Jeremy (Jennifer) Sharpshair, Chanda (Kevin) Bovenmyer, Carrie Klosterman, Travis Starr (Karen Brawley), Tony (Jen) Starr, and great-grandchildren: Brittany and Nicole Hoskins, Grayson Sharpshair, Tayler, Alec and Cade Bovenmyer, Isaac Neel, Zach Brawley, Emma and Myah Starr, and Logan Metzger, and her sister Ethel Reich in California. In death, Lois rejoined her beloved husband of 61 years, Elmer, her grandson Jared, and her parents.
