Loren H. Abe Ebeling, 85, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Montour. He will be laid to rest in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in Abes name to the Montour Community Center. Abe was born October 3, 1926, in Hanover, Kansas, the son of Otto and Elsie (Bradley) Ebeling. He was raised and educated in the southern Nebraska and northern Kansas areas and went on to honorably serve his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge Abe was united in marriage to Betty Zabokrtsky in 1950, in Odell, Nebraska. They made their home in Montour where he worked with Cessford Construction. On December 19, 1971, in Montour, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Linda (Kutter) Young, following their marriage they made their home in Montour. Abe was an active member of the Montour American Legion Harry Long Post #197, the Living Faith United Methodist Church and was a proud member of the Eagles since 1956.Abe enjoyed fishing, woodworking, golfing, telling jokes and making people laugh. He was a kind and gentle man who will be remembered for always being happy. Above all, Abe loved to spend time with his family.Abe is survived by his children; Becky (Mike) Buchanan of Montour, Iowa, Debra Speicher of Marshalltown, Tracy Bell of Montour, Mike (Dana) Young of Moulton, Iowa, Alan Young of Grinnell, Scott (Joyce) Young of Donnellson, Randy (Brenda) Young of Toledo, Brian Young of Boone his grandchildren; Kellee Buchanan, Liberty (James) Johnson, Valesta Scheffert, Elissia Beth (Jon) Schmidt, Derek Speicher, Madoline Bell and Lauren Bell, his great-grandchildren; Bryton, Brianna, Noah, his eleven step-grandchildren, his brother: Noel (Ruby) Ebeling of Faribury, Nebraska, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.Abe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda in November of 2010, his grandson Jeremy and his siblings; Jim, Lloyd, Raymond and Helen.
