Loren A. Peters

Loren A. Peters, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Friends and family are invited to meet at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens where Loren will be laid to rest. Following the interment rites, there will be a funeral service for Loren at 10:30 a.m., at Mitchell Family Funeral home. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013, from 5:00 7:00 p.m., where his family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Loren and his family. Loren A. Peters was born on June 24, 1928, the son of Lawrence and Frieda (Schelker) Peters. He was raised and educated in the Albion School District and graduated from Green Mountain High School. On April 5, 1950, Loren married the woman of his dreams, Arleta McDonald, in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Loren started working at Lennox Industries in 1949, under the leadership of John Norris, Sr. He retired from Lennox after working there for 42 years of faithful and devoted service. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church. Lorens ultimate passion in life was his family. He loved his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, never missing any of their sporting events. Loren especially enjoyed his family trips to Minnesota. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Arleta; children Larry (Pat) Peters, and Lorna (Steve) Finch; grandchildren Loren (Jenessa) Peters, Lindsey (Aaron) Grimm, Josh (Emily) Finch, Stacy Finch, Travis (Erica) Finch; great-grandchildren: Autumn Finch, Payton Peters, Kyle Finch, Ashleigh Finch, Stevi Anne Finch, Claire Finch, Keegan Finch; brother, Leonard (Darlene) Peters. He is preceded in death by his parents.
