Lorene M. Lori Wallace, 87, of Marshalltown, died Friday night, July 10th, at the Iowa Veterans Home. A memorial service and gathering to celebrate Lorenes life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Lorene Margaret Wellendorf on August 24th, 1922, in Ida Grove, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Margaret (Thomas) Wellendorf. She graduated from the Ida Grove High School and later the Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha, NE. On September 23rd, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raymond C. Wallace in Iowa City. They made their home in Northwest Iowa, Rockwell City, Manson and later Marshalltown. Mrs. Wallace was employed as an administrative assistant at the World Herald in Omaha during WWII, the University of Iowa Art Department, Rockwell City School, Trinity Hospital in Ft. Dodge, Ottilie Seed Farm and MCC until retiring. She enjoyed reading, music, playing bridge, flower gardening, and having the role of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Debra (Dale) Jones of Cedar Rapids, Margie Bloomcamp of Pocahontas and Jeff (Myoung) Wallace of San Jose, CA., grandchildren- Melanie Lusk, Matt Hanus, Andy Bloomcamp, Eric Bloomcamp, Jeremy Wallace, Aryn Wallace, Son Le Wallace and Xuan Wallace, and seven great-grandchildren. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband Raymond who died on May 17th, 2005, brothers Darrel and Harold Wellendorf and son-in-law Chuck Bloomcamp.
