Loretta Dixon McNeil, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel in Marshalltown. Visitation will be prior to service time from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family. Loretta Shark was born on April 11, 1935 in Aberdeen, Maryland to Philmon and Aravell Jenkins Shark. She served her country honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 until 1954. In 1954; Loretta was united in marriage to Willie C Dixon and they resided in Davenport. Loretta had worked for the Government, Joliet Arsenal and at Dr Stansberrys office and Raymond Boldens office. In Lorettas free time she enjoyed painting and writing. She also enjoyed the Red Hat Society. Left to cherish her memory is daughter: Patricia J (Eddie B) Hobbs from Joliet, Illinois and step son: Reverend Otis (Pat) Dixon of Decatur, Alabama. Grandchildren: Loretta Hobbs of Joliet, Illinois and Josette Hobbs of Flossmoor, Illinois. Great grandchildren: Toniqua Cheek, Monshayla Black, Clayvon Bedenfield and Antonio Bedenfield. Great great granddaughter: Lalie Ariel Harvell. Brother: Philmon Shark Jr, niece Carol Cook and her ex-husband Willie. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents Philmon and Aravell and her siblings: Lottie Cook, Burnell Shark, Daniel Jenkins and Joseph Shark.
