On August 8th, 2018, the Lord welcomed home Lori Josephine Pieper, a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was born on May 2nd, 1956 in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Marshalltown High School, Marshalltown Community College, The University of Northern Iowa where she received her degree in Library Sciences, The University of Iowa where she received a degree in History, and Fordham University in New York where she earned a Doctorate in Medieval History. Lori was a published author, a multi-lingual translator for New York's Conjuring Arts Museum, and a strong advocate for the Catholic faith throughout her life. This advocacy reached almost every corner of the world, in addition to the Vatican itself, where she conducted numerous interviews for her independent research. She was an initial and active member of the Secular Franciscan Order at St. Mary in Marshalltown, and continued her involvement at St. Barnabus in Bronx, New York where she enjoyed many deep and lasting friendships. She is survived by her father, John B. Pieper, mother, Betty A. Pieper; her siblings John (Joan) Pieper; Gregory Pieper, Michael Pieper, Nicholas (Margie) Pieper; Patrick (Vera) Pieper; Mark Pieper, Mary Pieper, and Erin (Patrick) Kelly. There will be a visitation from 3-5 pm Friday, August 10th at St. Mary Church, with a celebration Mass at 10 am at St. Mary Church on Saturday, August 11th. There will be a luncheon following mass at St. Mary Church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her infant brother, Stephen. Lori will be forever missed by her family, friends and fellow parishoners at both St Mary and St. Barnuabus.
