Lorna Finch

Lorna Jolene Finch, 70, of Marshalltown, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Lorna Jolene Peters was born on December 20, 1955 to Loren and Arleta Peters (McDonald) at the Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown.

Lorna was united in marriage to Steve Finch on August 31, 1974. To this union, three children were born: Joshua, Stacy, and Travis.

Vacations were a big part of her life, starting as a young girl growing up, and continuing on with her own family- never missing a year! Most of their time was spent at Leech Lake in Minnesota making a lot of great family memories, family was everything to her.

As a Mom, Lorna was a cub scout leader and committee member. She was also involved with Girl Scouts as the cookies chairman. Lorna was very active in the PTA at Rogers Elementary and was a youth leader at Grace Methodist Church. Lorna enjoyed playing 500 with her two card clubs, and was a member of TTT FW for several years.

Lorna and Steve have been small business owners in Marshalltown for over 50 years. For more than 30 of those years she managed the Isle of Green Garden Center. She truly had a love for people and flowers.

Lorna is survived by her husband of fifty-two years: Steve. Children: Joshua Finch, Stacy Finch and Travis Finch. She also is survived by sister-in-law Patricia Peters, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lorna is preceded in death by her parents: Loren and Arleta and brother, Larry Peters.

A Memorial service for Lorna will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11am at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will begin at 10am, prior to the service.
