Lorraine Freiberg, 75, of Marshalltown, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, while surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Green Mountain Cemetery in Green Mountain, Iowa. Visitation for Lorraine will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to her family.Lorraine was born July 14, 1937, in Baxter, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Aden and Allene Maude (Kruse) Charlton. She was raised and educated in Baxter and graduated from the Baxter High School. Lorraine went on to attend Marshalltown Community College where she received her Certified Machine Trades Degree. Lorraine was employed by Fisher Controls for over 20 years at the time of her retirement in 1995. Lorraine was united in marriage to Carroll Freiberg on November 30, 1984, at the St. John Lutheran Church in State Center. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshalltown. Lorraine was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Marshalltown and St. John Lutheran Church in State Center. She also belonged as a member of the local UAW. Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling, drinking coffee with her family and friends and working with cabinetry and upholstery. Most of all, Lorraine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Lorraine is survived by her husband of 28 years Carroll Freiberg, her children: Ralph Stevenson of Marshalltown, Teresa Spencer of Marshalltown, Tracy (Chad) Dielman of Albion, Robin (Kevin) Angstman of LeGrand, Kevin (Cindy) Stevenson of Portage, Michigan, Michael Clapsaddle of Marshalltown and Joy Spencer of Mason City, her 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her brothers: Norman (Mary Jane) Charleton of Albion and Richard (Gladys) Charleton of Liscomb and her special family friends.Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson William, her great-grandson Carter, her father-in-law Karl Freiberg and her brothers: Denny Charleton and David Charleton and her sister-in-law Jan Charleton.
