Lou Wayne Riemenschneider, 83, a lifelong resident of State Center, Iowa, died Sunday, September 16, 2007, in his home surrounded by his family.Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19th, at First Presbyterian Church in State Center with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel in State Center. Private family burial will be held later. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Wayne and his family.Wayne was born January 5, 1924, in State Center, Iowa and was the son of Louie and Lela (Petteys) Riemenschneider. He was a graduate of State Center High. Wayne served in World War II and was a member of the 27th Infantry of the 25th Division. He was wounded in action and earned three bronze medals and a purple heart.Wayne married Margie Ann Buschbom on May 21, 1943 in Lathrop, Missouri and they had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. As a long time resident of State Center, Wayne was engaged in farming. He was co-owner of State Center Plumbing and Heating for 10yers and was a 62 year continuous member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church where he had previously served as an Elder. He was a member of the State Center Cemetery Board, the State Center Investment Club, B&D Club, and a previous Sunday School teacher.Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His four favorite past times were fishing at their pond, playing pool, horseback riding, and going South in the winter time.Wayne is survived by his wife Margie of State Center, their daughters: Peg Johnson and husband Robert of Albert City and their children Teresa Lagomarcino and husband Mark of West Des Moines and Jeff Johnson and his wife Krista of Albert City; Terry Weber and husband Gordon of Keota and their children Angela Sieren and husband Kurt of Johnston, and Heather Weber of Denver; Becky Riemenschneider and husband Mark of State Center and their children Jodie Riemenschneider of State Center, Christine Kern of State Center, and Matt Riemenschneider and wife Jill of State Center. He is the proud great-grandfather of 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Don Riemenschneider of Boone, Iowa and Jean Daters of Iowa City Iowa.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Floy Steffensen.
