Louis J. Paustian, 94, of Toledo, Iowa, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, Iowa. Funeral services for Louis will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. Following services, Louis will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed in Louiss name to his family. Paustian was born on November 7, 1921, in Traer, Iowa, the son of Louis and Amelia (Lage) Paustian. He was raised and educated in the Traer School District. Louis served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was self-employed and a farmer. He enjoyed working and gardening. Louis was very proud of his Honor Flight he was able to go on in 2011. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children: Ann (Vic) Vokoun and Don (Marlene) Paustian and his grandchildren: Todd (Shelly) Vokoun, Kristi (Martin Gedney) Vokoun, Joel (Nicole) Paustian and LeAnn (Lars Avery) Paustian; his great-granddaughter, Leah Paustian. His step-grandchildren: Mike (Sheila) Vokoun and Jodi (Matt Milligan) Greiner and step-great grandchildren: John, Joshua and Jade Greiner; Nathaniel, Nicholas and Neil Vokoun. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Lou Paustian; brothers: Edwin and Vern Paustian and sisters: Alice Rehder and Gladys Stricker.
