Louretta M. Hibbs, 83, of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Quakerdale, Marshalltown Library, or The Grimes Farm. Louretta Maybelle Paul was born May 18, 1928 in Marshalltown; she was the daughter of John and Irma (Hornday) Paul. She attended and graduated the Laurel High School. Shortly after graduating, she was united in marriage to Berle Charles Hibbs on December 29, 1946 at the Laurel United Methodist Church. Louretta and Berle started living their lives north of Albion then moving to Lynnville and the finally ending up in Haverhill. Her husband, Berle then passed away December of 1995. She was the president several times and an active member of the Elks Ladies. Louretta was also a member of the Laurel Town and Country Fraus. Louretta was recently a member of the First Friends Church and she was a Sunday school teacher at one point at the Laurel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed any type of sports, attending Iowa State or Iowa sport events, traveling, reading, playing cards (Pepper and Five Hundred), camping, dancing, and haggling with the locals on her trips in Mexico. She loved her family the most and will be missed dearly. She is survived by her children: Phyllis (Craig) Kerr of Laurel and Peggy Grady of Melbourne; her grandchildren; Rusty (Kathy) Kerr, Jody Kerr (Trevor Ryan), Allison (Dominic) Roberge, Jessica Fisher, Jonathan (Jennifer) Fisher, Andrea (Jarrod) Quastad; her 11 great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Hibbs-Good; her brother-in-law, Bob Kent. She is preceded in death by her husband, Berle; her son, Paul Hibbs; her parents, John and Irma; her sister, Joan Kent; and her son-in-law Rollie.
