Louretta M. Runner, 94, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services for Louretta will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Whitehead officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Lourettas family will be present to greet friends. Following services, she will be laid to rest at the Vienna Cemetery in Beaman. Memorial contributions may be directed in Lourettas name to her family. Louretta Gooding was born on October 19, 1922 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Grace (Maloney) Gooding. She was raised and educated in the Marshall County School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1940. On September 26, 1943, Louretta was united in marriage to the love of her life, Sidney Runner, in Albion, Iowa. From this union four children were born: Nancy, Peggy, Susan and Jeffrey. Louretta was a very hardworking and dedicated housewife. She enjoyed taking care of her family as well as sewing, doing jig saw puzzles, playing the piano and cards, cooking for her family and friends as well as just making sure she was always being useful. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Nancy (Fred) Sanders of Marshalltown, IA, Peggy (Jim) Twombley of Melbourne, IA, Susan (Tim) Eggers of State Center, IA and Jeffrey (Michelle) Runner of Gilbert, AZ; Grandchildren: Wendi (Jeffrey) Kosser of LeGrand, IA, Sheri Gruver of Marshalltown, IA, Jenni Sanders of Marshalltown, IA, Robert (Deanna) Sanders of Marshalltown, IA, Troy (Amanda Etters) Twombley of Wisconsin, Diana Eggers of Lake City, IA, Laura Eggers of Roland, IA, Jim (Jill Ramak) Runner of Ames, IA; Great-Grandchildren: Barry Ecklor, Casey (Ashley) Gruver, Ashley (Peter Tinoco) Gruver and Brittany (Connor) Woodruff; Great-Great-Grandchildren: Malina Tinoco, Brayden Gruver and Cayden Gruver; as well as her step-mother: Betty Gooding. She is preceded in death by her husband: Sidney; parents: Glen and Grace; one daughter: Susan; step-father: Joe LeFever; and her four legged furry companion, Homer.
