Luanne Bergen, 70, passed away March 27, 2026, at NorthCrest Specialty Care, Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on July 9, 1955, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Marion and Darlene (Gerdes) Bergen. Luanne went to Edison Elementary and Junior High, graduating from West High School in 1973. Luanne was a CNA for years, serving in several care facilities including the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.

Luanne accepted Jesus as her personal Savior when she was five years old and always clung to the truth that he loved her and she would spend eternity with him, which now is her reality.

Luanne loved relationships with friends and family. If you knew Luanne, you loved her because she cared so deeply for you. She had a fun sense of humor and always saw the good in people. She loved her “Chicago” cousins and their families. Luanne was especially proud of her brother and his wife and her four nieces and nephews. Bonus to that were her eleven great nieces and nephews. Although she could not see them often, she cherished pictures of them and always asked about each of them by name.

Luanne has resided with and loved her “family” at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo for the past two+ years. She also had a good friend, Scott, who encouraged her through the last several years.

Luanne was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Darlene Bergen. Luanne is survived by brother Kyle (Betty Anne) Bergen of Dallas, GA. Ben Bergen, Ella Bergen and Clara Bergen, Elizabeth (Jason) Flowers, Caroline (Philipp) Conaway, Doster Flowers and Mary Anna Flowers, Katie (Chris) Torres, Rosemary Torres, Bergen Torres, Whitaker Torres, and Willoughby Torres, Charles (Maggie) Bergen, Gavin Bergen and Eleanor Bergen. Cousins, Linda (Rich) Wells and Lilly (Roger) Baldwin.

A family led graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton, Iowa on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Friendship Village 3720 Village Place, Door C, Waterloo, following the graveside service.
