Lucile Campbell, age 101, lifelong Laurel resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Accura Healthcare in Marshalltown while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Private family burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Laurel. Following the burial there will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lothe officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed in Lucile’s name to her family, which will be later designated elsewhere. Born on May 30th, 1917, at her family home in Laurel, she was the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Sash) Miiller. She graduated from the Laurel High School. On Christmas Eve day of 1935, she was united in marriage to Donald Bruce Campbell in Marshalltown. They lived in Laurel all of their married lives. Mrs. Campbell was an active member of the Laurel United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Legion Auxiliary, served on the board of the Laurel Leisure Home and was clerk at the Laurel Post Office before serving as clerk at the Newton Post Office. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Maurice (Barbara) Campbell of Marion,IA, Lynda (Ronald) Stegemann of Belvidere, IL, and Ray Campbell of North Liberty, IA; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In death, Lucile rejoined her beloved husband who passed away in 2001, two brothers, son Gary in 2011, her parents and granddaughter Cindy Campbell Brown who died in the Oklahoma City bombing.
