Luella Poe

Luella Poe, 90, of the Villa del Sol, died there on Saturday, July 16. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Luella Duffy on March 18, 1921, at Clemons, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ben and Bessie (Clemons) Duffy. She graduated from the Clemons High School in the class of 1939. Luella was united in marriage to Wayne McKelvey in March of 1940. They later divorced and she married Cleo Poe on August 6, 1966. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was employed by Marshalltown Manufacturing for 26 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the UAW Local #893 Retirees. Luella enjoyed bird watching, family gatherings, raising tropical fish with Cleo, and flowers. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Larry (Linda) McKelvey of Des Moines, Doug (Carolyn) McKelvey of Marshalltown, Pam (Dave) Riemenschneider of State Center, Paula (Ned) McMartin of Iowa City, Greg (Tina) McKelvey of Denver; her step-sons- Kenneth (Deloris) Poe, Jim (Barb) Poe, Roger (Pam) Poe, Mike (Deanna) Poe and Dallas (Becky) Poe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings- Laverne Huseboe, Charlotte Lancaster, Bernadelle Lilly, Wallace Duffy, John Duffy and Helen Stonewall as well as many nieces and nephews. In death, Luella rejoined Cleo, her parents, and siblings- Glen, Marion, Clarence, Merle, and Dale Duffy, Bernadine (in youth), and Pearl Hennis.
