Luis Garza-Salas

Luis Garza-Salas, 57, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on the morning of September 3, 2021 in the comfort of his own home. At this time, services for Luis will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 beginning at 4:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held following the service until 6:30 P.M. for a time of fellowship and memories with the family. Luis Mario Garza-Salas was born August 14, 1964 to parents Agustin Garza Morales and Maria Consuelo Garza Salas in Sabinas Hildalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He attended school in Mexico and eventually came to the United States and lived in Texas for a period of time. In 1998, Luis moved to Iowa and worked a number of years in various jobs as a laborer until he was unable to work due to his health. He had resided in the Des Moines area for the last six years. In his free time, Luis enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, spending time with his family, going for walks, watching his soap operas that he enjoyed, calling his family, and going thrift shopping with his sister Juani. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his siblings, Felix (Ana Cecelia) Garza, Andres (Belen) Garza, San Juana “Juani” Garza, Evelia Gonzalez, Agustin (Anna) Garza Jr., Jose (Susana) Antonio Garza, Roberto (Maria) Garza, and Anel (Jose) Garza Sandoval; his best friend Rodolfo Ybarra; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members. In eternal life, he rejoins his parents, Augustin and Maria Garza and his nephew, Gibran Gonzalez.
