Luverda E. Brown, 95, of the Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, formerly of State Center, died Saturday morning, June 5th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center with Pastor Mike Maddick officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery at State Center. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Luverda Elenora Nolta on May 16th, 1915, near State Center, she was one of six children born to Leland and Elenora (Holle) Nolta. She received her education in the rural State Center Schools and later St. Johns Parochial School. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on March 24th, 1929. On November 26th, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold Lincoe Brownie Brown. They made their home at State Center where she was employed at Listons Grocery, Watsons Grocery and the State Center Creamery. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Birthday Club. She will be fondly remembered for her love of china painting, crocheting, gardening, sewing (was an excellent seamstress) helping sew quilts at Trinity and visiting with friends and family. In 2008, she moved to Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls to be closer to Adrian. Left to cherish her memory is her brother Adrian (Bernice) Nolta of Iowa Falls and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. In death, she rejoined her beloved husband who died on March 10th, 1999, her parents, sister Verneda Mersman and brothers Everett, Lloyd and Verland Nolta.
