Lydia Baker, 83, of Le Grand, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Central Iowa Health Care in Marshalltown, Iowa. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Burial will be immediately following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Le Grand, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Lydia Ileen Hazen was born on January 18, 1933, at home in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Fredrick and Lida (Snyder) Hazen. She was educated in the area of her birth. She was married to Ed Wagner and they later divorced. She married Dale Baker in 1963, in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She has lived in Le Grand, Iowa for the last 20 years. She had worked as a nurses aide in area nursing homes over the years. She loved to crochet, do puzzles, play bingo and watch her soap opera Young and the Restless and fish. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lyda Gutierrez of Le Grand, Iowa, Frances Enarson of Vinton, Iowa, Cheryl Wagner of St Joseph, Missouri, Mary Pickett of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dale Baker Jr. of Lacona, Iowa, Harold (Linda) Baker of Le Grand, Iowa, David (Caryn) Wagner of Wappapello, Missouri, Dianna (Dave) Mason of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dale Robert Baker of Marshalltown and Pam (John ) Wyatt of Marshalltown and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Elvin Hazen, Elston Hazen and Harlan (Dorothy) Hazen and special friend, Jim Thompson, all of Marshalltown, Iowa. In death Lydia rejoins her parents, Fredrick and Lida , husband, Dale and siblings: Fred, Emma, Frances, and Ronald.
