Lyle Albert Brown, 82, of Marshalltown, died, October 10, 2007, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, under the care of his wife, Adeline, and Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Lyle and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234.Lyle Albert Brown was born December 17, 1924 in Marshalltown, to Raymond H. Brown and Mabel B. (Legg) Brown. They moved to a farm on North Center Street Road in 1928. For 8 years he attended rural school at Taylor #5 on old Highway 14. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943 and the helped run the family dairy farm until March 1945 when he entered the U.S. Army. He proudly served in the army of occupation in Japan until his discharge in October 1946. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion here in town.Lyle married Clara Bratland in 1947 and they had 3 children: twins, Douglas and Dolores, and Patricia. He worked for 2 years for J.P. Brindle, near Conrad, and 15 years for Arden Olson, west of Marshalltown. He then worked almost 21 years for Fishers in Marshalltown. After Claras death in 1974 he married Adeline (Zieske) Britain in 1977 at Redeemer Lutheran. Lyle was a loving person who enjoyed going fishing, camping, and spending the winter in Harlingen, TX for the past 16 years.He is survived by his wife, Adeline; son, Douglas of Marshalltown; daughters: Dolores (Eugenio) Coco of Urbandale, and Patricia (Jeff) Larmer of Bozeman, Montana; daughter-in-law, Zoe McGraw of Arizona; step-children: Debra Randall of Marshalltown, Pam (Lee) Morris of South Lake, TX, and Jeff (Joni) Britain of McKinney, TX; grandchildren: Jason (Rachelle) Brown, Jacob (Tammy) Brown, Missy (Andy) Mortensen, Courtney Larmer, Haleigh Larmer, Matt Randall, Josh Britain, Jessica Britain, T.J. Morris, Francesco Coco, and Matthew Coco; several great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne A. (Jerry) Brown of Marshalltown; and sister, Shirley (Gene) Martin of Albion, as well as many friends in Texas that he met while he wintered there.He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Clara; 2 brothers in infancy; and a sister, Gretchen Owen.
