Lyle Hogie Hogeland, 92, a longtime Marshalltown business man passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The family request casual dress for visitation and service. Military Honors will be presented by Harry C. Harter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 839 and American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post # 46. Lyle Edward Hogeland was born on December 2, 1922, in Iowa Falls, Iowa; he was the son of John H. and Leta (Snyder) Hogeland. Lyle attended school on the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1941. He served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945. Lyle married Betty and they later divorced, he then married Dorothy, they divorced, married Elsie and later divorced. Lyle never married again but found a loving companion in Pauline Osbourne and they were together for many years until she passed in 2005. Lyle had lived in Marshalltown his entire life and had owned and operated Hogeland Auto Plaza and worked alongside his son Lonnie, from 1941 to 1943, Lyle had also worked as a welder at Fisher Controls a job he loved because he enjoyed meeting and working with all the people especially Bill Fisher. He had been a member of Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. He enjoyed collecting antique cars, antique auto parts, which his family called hoarding, going to McDonalds for breakfast, fishing, loved to listen and dance to polka music, buying scratch tickets and the casino. Lyle will be remembered as fun loving, cigar smoking, never knew a stranger kinda guy. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Georgia(Troy) Losey of Allen Texas, Nancy ( Mike ) Mayer of Marshalltown, Iowa, Shawn(Dale)Hollaway of Austin, Texas, and Lonnie Hogeland Sr.of Marshalltown, Iowa. Grandchildren: Heather Morman of Texas, Amy(Dan) McCready of Marshalltown, Iowa, Luke Hogeland and Levi Hogeland of Grinnell, Iowa and Joey and Danielle Lopez of Austin, Texas. Great-grandchildren, Jake and Carson Morman. Great-great-grandchild, Jacie Morman. Brother, Wesley Dean Zeek Hogeland of Hot Springs, Arkansas. In death Lyle rejoins, his parents, John and Leta, brother, John Hogeland and grandson Lonnie Jr. in 1998 and longtime companion Pauline Osbourne.
