Lyle Wall, 95, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of October 22, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice Home.
Services for Lyle will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed casually. Memorials in Lyle’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. Lyle Arthur Wall was the only child of George and Blanche (Smith) Wall born on December 14, 1926 in Montour, Iowa. Growing up, Lyle attended school in Marshalltown and later graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1944.
Following school, Lyle enlisted in the United States Army and he served honorably. Later he was discharged and came back to Marshalltown.
On April 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Flossie Robinson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they began a family raising their two sons. Lyle worked various construction jobs until 1959. He switched from working construction to the Marshalltown Community School District until 1989.
In his free time, Lyle loved to work on his yard, dabble in carpentry projects, take trips to Meskwaki on Thursdays and Sundays to go to the buffet to meet with his friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lyle took great pride in the fact that he was able to still have abilities to drive, mow his own lawn, and do his own snow removal at the age of 95. He was a great father and mentor to his sons and additionally a best friend to many.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his sons, Clair (Mary Ann) Wall and Ken (Vicky) Wall; his grandchildren, Griffin (Wendy) Wall, Summer Russell, Josh (Sara) Wall, Stacey (Matt) Lundquist, and Jarod (Melissa) Wall; his great-grandchildren, Jack, Michael, Brynn, Ryan, Kade, and Clair; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Flossie Wall and his parents George and Blanche Wall.
