Lyna Kae (Ambler) Bru, 69, A laugh and a smile we will never forget, passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2026, with her family by her side.
Lyna was born March 28th, 1956, she was number two of four girls, to Larry and Patricia Ambler of Garwin. Lyna lived in Marshalltown all of her 69 years.
She graduated from Garwin High School Roughriders in 1974. She loved being a cheerleader, a majorette, a homecoming junior attendant, a flutist in band and she still has a few close friends that kept in contact with her from Garwin.
Most people remember Lyna when she worked at Evan’s Abstract. She would walk to the courthouse and she had long, long dark brown hair! She was a stunning lady! She was also remembered at the Iowa Veterans Home in the dietary department.
Lyna never judged a book by its cover; she believed laughter was the best medicine. And let’s be honest she thoroughly enjoyed a cold one, paired with good company. Even though she kept her family and friends on their toes, she never forgot to call you on your birthday, to tell you how proud she was of you or to cite a random ridiculous joke just to make you smile. Most of all, we will remember Lyna by her light hearted personality, raunchy humor and infectious smile.
Lyna did not have any children of her own but she took great pride and loved her nieces and nephew dearly. While she had a few loves in her life, her greatest companions were her dogs. She had a huge heart for all “Cody’s” in this world and would have rescued them all if she could!
She will rejoin her Grandpa Forrest Ambler, Grandma Reba Ambler, Father Larry Ambler, Sister LeeAnn Ambler-Stichter, along with many other friends.
Those that are left to mourn are her sisters Lorri (Tom) Waite and Paula (Rick) Aalfs. Her nieces Megan Bessman, Kelsey (Jordan Troyer), Brooke Aalfs (Keaton Dudden) and nephew, Justin Kaiser. Great nieces, Ryann, Regann and great nephew Range.
We would like to state a very special thank you to Harmony Care Facility and Suncrest Hospice for all of the care that was provided to Lyna.
-Lovingly written by her family.
