Lynn Lorraine Banzhaf

Lynn L. Banzhaf, 88, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice Home. Funeral Mass for Lynn will take place on Monday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Henry Catholic Church. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation Sunday, April 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a vigil service and Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Lynn Lorraine Noel on December 9, 1933, in Grinnell, Iowa, she was the daughter of William “Bill” Sr. and Helen (Fleming) Noel. Lynn grew up in Grinnell with her younger brother, William Jr., graduating from Grinnell High School in 1951. After attending Paris Academy Beauty School in Cedar Rapids, she worked at a beauty salon for a year before returning to Grinnell, where she owned and operated her own salon, The Vanity. In 1955 Lynn met the love of her life, William “Bill” Banzhaf and the two were married April 14, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Grinnell. Together, they made their home in Marshalltown, where they raised their three children. Loving and devoted, Lynn worked hard both inside and outside the home. She was a true homemaker who loved to cook and bring people together. Well-known for her excellent baking skills, Lynn sold baked goods at the Farmer’s Markets in Grinnell and Marshalltown. She also owned Lynn’s Ceramic Shop for several years. A woman of strong faith, Lynn was very active at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, where she served as vice president and treasurer for the Altar and Rosary Society. Quite the social butterfly, Lynn enjoyed socializing with her many friends - whether playing bridge and Friday night penny poker, daily coffee get-together with the girls or hosting gatherings. Lynn was known to be sweet, sassy, and artistic, using those skills to make wedding cakes and flower arrangements. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her three grandsons. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Scott William (Cheryl) Banzhaf of Marshalltown; Rebecca Marie (Jeffrey) Banzhaf of Ankeny; and Kirk Noel Banzhaf of Des Moines; three grandsons, Joshua William Banzhaf of Marshalltown; Graysen Dorn Jennings and Landen Pierce Jennings of Ankeny; sister-in-law, Geraldine Best of Marshalltown, as well as several nieces and nephews. In eternal life, Lynn is reunited with her loving husband, Bill, her parents William Sr. and Helen, her brother, William H. Noel, Jr. and her nephews, David Noel and Ken Clark.
