Mabel Book

Mabel Monnie Book, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep, to be with the Lord on May 30, 2007. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel, IA. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mabel and her family. Mabel was born to Louserne and Alma (Brown) Peterson on February 11, 1918, in Alta, Iowa. She worked for the Civil Services, owned her own business, and with her husband, her brother, and sister-in-law, owned and built the Tower Park Marina in Lodi, CA. In 2005 with the help of her granddaughter Debbie Newton, she moved back to Iowa to live with her granddaughter, Sharon Leavy and her husband, Bryce Leavy, for her final years. She is survived by 3 daughters: Doris Owen of LaGrange, CA, Shirley Newton of Ottosen, IA, and Rita Pearson of Marshalltown; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and many loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, a husband, 1 son, and 1 infant daughter.
