Madonna Lee Locke

Madonna Lee Locke, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.  Funeral services for Madonna will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Madonna and her family.  Madonna Lee Mikkelson was born on September 9, 1924 in Iowa City to Gunder and Cora Ingraham Mikkelson. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943. Madonna was united in marriage to Carlton Ernest Locke, Sr on June 1, 1947 in Toledo, Iowa. She had worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing as a lathe operator and then a devoted homemaker and mother. Madonna had been a lifetime member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and was currently a member at Hope United Methodist. She was also affiliated with the Salvation Army. Madonna enjoyed crocheting, crafts and collecting many things. She also liked fishing, playing cards and attending the senior citizen center. Above all else, her faith and family were the most important to her.   Madonna is survived by her children: Bonita (Tim) Wunn of Marshalltown, Nina (Jim) Cox of Marshalltown, Kenneth (Sina) Locke of Warsaw, Indiana and Lisa (Gary) Chedester of Littleton, Colorado and a step son, Carlton Earl Locke, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Paul, Amy, Kevin, Nathan, Sarah, Carisa, Daniel, Tanya, Bryan, Tara, Todd, Diana, Christine, Stacy and April along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.  Madonna is preceded in death by her husband Carlton “Bud” who passed away in August of 1991 as well as her daughter, Sandra Lee Locke who passed on February 12, 1963; granddaughters, Kendra, Karen and Amanda, parents Gunder and Cora and her sister Iola.
