Marco E. Correa

Marco Correa, age 44, of Ankeny and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, surrounded by those who loved him.

Honoring Marco and his family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Pastors Juan Manuel Jurado and Pablo Ashley Miguez will lovingly officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation. Born on April 9, 1982, in Downey, California, Marco Estevan Correa was the cherished son of Guillermo Correa Garcia and Ramona Chavez Lopez. He spent his childhood attending school in Mexico before continuing his education at Marshalltown High School. On October 26, 2025, he married his wife, Rebeca (Jurado) Correa, and together they created a loving home—first in Marshalltown and later in Ankeny, Iowa. Marco took great pride in his work as a Heavy Equipment Operating Engineer and in his membership with IUOE Local 234. When he wasn’t on the job, he loved keeping his hands busy with home improvement projects, always finding something to fix or build. He found joy in hunting, traveling, playing his guitar, and riding his motorcycle. Marco also held a deep passion for music and for God, and his faith was a steady guide throughout his life. Reading his Bible each day was one of his most treasured routines, bringing him comfort, strength, and peace.

Marco is lovingly survived by his wife, Rebeca; his children—Bella Genesis, Callie Grace, Alexis Marie, Isaac Correa, Eduardo Gonzalez, Yannely, Joel Jesus, Sairah, and Arely Piña—who each brought joy to his life. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adriel Gonzalez and Valentina Reyes; his siblings: Guillermo Correa Jr., Mary Correa, Gladys Grimaldo, Jose Grimaldo, Raymond Correa, Jacqueline Correa, Alondra Lopez, and Isaac Lopez; his mother, Ramona; his step‑father, Benigno “El Viejon” Lopez; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Guillermo.
