Margaret Anne Maureen Laverty, 37 Her family mourns the unexpected passing of Margaret at MercyOne Hospital on Saturday, August 14, 2021.  Funeral service will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Laurel, IA at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 20. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Margaret and her family. Born October 10, 1983 in Marshalltown she was the daughter of Judy Bloom and Alan Laverty and spent her first years on the family farm in Laurel. At three, she moved to Chicago where she excelled at everything she did. In her sophomore year she attended classes at the Art Institute in Chicago on scholarship. She also wrote a regular column for the Libertyville town newspaper. She traveled Europe with her class and later spent time in China. Graduating from Pamlico Community College with an Associate Degree in Medical Office Administration while living in North Carolina with her mother and step father She was also inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the only national honor society for American community/junior colleges. She was preceded in death by her father, Alan Laverty, and left to cherish her memory are her mother Judy Bloom, step-father Brian Dodds, brother Patrick and her nieces Kaylie, McKenna Rose, and nephews, Connor and Jack Laverty, loving aunts Jane Wiseman and Deborah Jacobson, as well as the extended Bloom and Laverty families.May her memory be for a blessing.
