Margaret “Peggy” Davidson, age 76, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, April 3, 2026.
A visitation for Peggy will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Peggy’s name may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Margaret Ann Lehman was born February 24, 1950 in Moline, Illinois. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Richard and Helen (Anderson) Lehman. Peggy attended school in Moline, graduating in 1968 from Moline High School. She furthered her education at Black Hawk Community College.
After college, Peggy moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she began work for Northwestern Bell Phone Company. At this time, she met John Wade and the two were united in marriage. Peggy gave birth to their only child, Amy. John and Peggy were later divorced and in 1980, she and Amy moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where she called home. Peggy began work at the Iowa Veterans Home as a Nurses Aide. She held this until her retirement. In her free time, Peggy loved spending time with her family especially her two grandchildren. She always had a soft spot for animals and was a longtime supporter of the Animal Rescue League. Additionally, she was an avid reader, loved to garden and watch movies.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her daughter, Amy (Eric) Gummert of Marshalltown; her two grandchildren, Cameron (Kelsey) Vranek and Maisie Gummert; two sisters, Kathy (Mel) Woolfolk and Kris Cawley; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Lehman and her brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Cawley.
