Margaret Richeson, 96, of Des Moines, formerly of Marshalltown, died Sunday morning at Mercy Hospice in Johnston surrounded by her loving family. Margaret had lived at The Gardens of Luther Park since 2006.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 30, 2011 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kent Chapel, Mercy Hospice or to the Family. Phone 641-328-4686.Margaret Marie Murray was born September 16, 1914 in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Hazel (Dumbauld) Murray. The family lived in Tama and Sheldon, Missouri before moving to the Rhodes area.Margaret graduated from Rhodes High School in 1932. After graduation she attended Thompsons School of Beauty Culture in Des Moines, and graduated from there in 1933.On November 29, 1933 she was united in marriage to Martin Richeson. Following their marriage they lived in Rhodes and State Center where she operated a beauty salon for 50 years.Margaret had many hobbies and they ranged from ceramics to sewing and from water color painting to oils. She made her own porcelain pieces, and painted lamps, vases, dishes and dolls. Margarets hand-painted china pieces were highly prized. She was well known for her hand painted roses and had won many ribbons and awards.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In November of 2010 she became a great-great-grandmother for the first time.Margaret is survived by her children: Jenny Mahlow of Ankeny and Cindy (Fran) Mc Atee of Brooklyn, one sister Norma Tribby of Ames, four grandchildren: Melinda (Randy) Johnson, Martin (Kelli) Mahlow of Ankeny, Tracy (Don) Roudabush of Brooklyn, and Christine (Michael) Klosterman of Marshalltown, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.In death, Margaret has rejoined her beloved husband Martin, her parents, her two sisters Violet Haas and Meryle Triplett, her brother Don Murray, her son-in-law Robert Mahlow and a great-granddaughter Crystal.
