Margaret (Margy) Irene Tomhave died at 2:20 pm, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Memorials services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Private family burial will be held at later time at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 21st, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Margaret was born May 16, 1922, in Marshalltown Iowa to Merle and Marie (Cannon) Mahaffey. She was raised in Marshalltown, graduating from St. Marys High School in 1940. Margaret married Harold W. Tomhave on August 31, 1941, in Red Oak, Iowa. They moved to Marshalltown in 1944. Margy and Harold celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last August with all their children at the Wisconsin lake she loved so much. Margys work history included her lengthy employment at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Lennox Industries, and Willards. She deeply loved her family, friends, dachshunds, and dancing. Margaret and Harold have 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and9 great grandchildren. The children are: Bette (Bob) Burgfechtel of Minnetonka, MN; Bob (Lauren) Tomhave of Savannah, GA; Dick (Darlene) Tomhave of Marshalltown. Grandchildren are Jeff (Kris) Burgfechtel of Menomonie, WI; John (Jennifer) Burgfechtel of Lake Orion, MI; Kevin (Amy) Tomhave of San Diego, CA; Tracy (Jim) Nuetzi of Atlanta, GA; Jaime (John) Gallimore of Winston-Salem, NC; Megan (Josh) Heflin of Breckenridge, CO; Allison (Aaron) Simmons of Dillon CO; and Chad (Christina) Tomhave of Louisville, CO. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Harold W. Tomhave, brothers Jim Mahaffey and Bob Mahaffey; sisters Edna Mae Dixon, Joan Barnes, and Jane Peyton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Maxine Welter and Myrletta Quiram.
