Maria Luna De Nunez

Maria Luna de Nunez, 74, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of May 6, 2021 at Unitypoint Health: Iowa Methodist Medical Center surrounded by her family. Funeral Services for Maria will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Mary Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 A.M. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Maria Luna was born March 10, 1947 to parents Amado Luna and Mercedes Nava in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico. She married her husband Jorge Nunez on December 11, 1963. Together they began a family raising seven children. They moved to the United States and called Marshalltown their home in 1999. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Mary Catholic Church. For a period of time, she worked at JBS in Marshalltown. In her free time she loved to cook, spend time spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and listening to music. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband Jorge Nunez; her children Maria, Jose, Jorge, Mercedes, Veronica, Elvia, and Elena; 22 grandchildren; her 5 great-grandchildren; and her 10 siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Amado and Mercedes. Durante un período de tiempo, trabajó en JBS en Marshalltown.  En su tiempo libre le encantaba cocinar, escuchar música y pasar tiempo consintiendo a sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos.  Quedan para recordar y apreciar su memoria su esposo, Jorge Núñez; sus hijos María, José, Jorge, Mercedes, Verónica, Elvia y Elena; 22 nietos y 5 bisnietos; y sus 10 hermanos.  En la muerte, se une a sus padres, Amado y Mercedes.
