Maria Canuta Lupia Martinez, 82, of Tama, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa with her loving family surrounding her. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Maria will be buried at Pantion Municipal de Tizapan in Mexico. Maria was born on September 2, 1933, in Tizapan elAlto, Jalisco; she was the daughter of Salvador Martinez and Antonia Garcia. Maria attended school in the area of her birth. In November of 1948, Maria was united in marriage to J. Trinidad Lupia Diaz in Tizapan el Alto, Jalisco. They have lived in Tama since 2007; Maria was a homemaker and loved her large family. She enjoyed sewing, music, watching old movies, taking care of the birds and flowers and loved to cook and was a great cook. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, J. Trinidad Lupia Diaz and her children, Betzabet Lupian(Juan Becerra), Julian Lupian(Alma deLupian) Santiago Lupian (Maria de Jesus deLupian), Armando Lupian( Maria Luisa deLupian), J. Trinidad Lupian( Ruth Elevia deLupian) Jos Francisco Lupian( Alicia deLupian), Elizabeth Lupian deChavarria (Antonio Chavarria) Celina Lupian deLuna(Luis Luna), Adriana Lupian deBolaos(Carlos Bolaos) and Livier Imelda Lupian de Hernandez(Jesus Hernandez) and daughter-in-law, Refugio deLupian, 49 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, siblings, Josefina Martinez, Ester Martinez, Soledad Martinez, and Salvador Martinez. In death she rejoins her children, Salvador Lupian and 11 other children, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 2 siblings.
