Mariam Babe Jackson, 96, of Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center formerly of rural State Center passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Per her wishes there will be no services at this time. For condolences or questions please visit; www.mitchellfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the Rhodes Methodist Church. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Mariam and her family. Phone 641-844-1234 Mariam Pearl Campbell was born in Melbourne, Iowa on January 12, 1918; she was the daughter of Elmer and Pearl (Preston) Campbell. Mariam attended school in the area of her birth and received her teachers training to teach country school. On September 10, 1939, Mariam was united in marriage to C. Kenneth Jackson at the courthouse in Marshalltown and they enjoyed their married lives on the farm in rural St. Center. Babe enjoyed sewing, handy work and baking. She was the best at whatever she did. Babe and Kenneth loved to attend auctions and enjoyed visiting the Amish around the Hazelton area. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Joyce Thomas of St. Center, Iowa, Betty (Bob) Ferrell of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Grandchildren: Kent(Marcy) Thomas of rural St. Center, Iowa Michelle (Mark) VanZehn of Collinsville, Illinois, Yvonne (Scott) Tochterman of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and great-grandchildren: Brayden and Campbell Thomas, Drew and Jennifer Tochterman, Nathan VanZehn. Sister, Janice Peglow of Missouri. In death Mariam joins her husband, Kenneth, three sisters and son-in-law, Gale Thomas.
