Marian Thurston, 87 of Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Carlton Brethren Church in rural Garwin. Phone 641-844-1234.Marian Doris Thurston was born in rural Tama County; she was the daughter of Glenn and Floy (Dobson) Thurston, she was educated in Green Mountain School District graduating with the class of 1942. Marian then attended nursing school graduating with her R.N. degree. Marian was a medical missionary in Central Africa for 38 plus years. Marian was a member of Carlton Brethren Church and loved the children as she taught in many capacities at church and in the missionary field.
