Funeral services for Marie will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marie and her family. Marie Herrera was born on February 1, 1959 in Raton, New Mexico to John Herrera and Magdalena Herrera. Marie moved to Greeley, Colorado as a child and stayed there until 1993 then she made Marshalltown home. Marie enjoyed watching and playing pool, visiting the Iowa Veterans Home residents to put puzzles together and eat ice cream, going to the casino to play slots and loved going on walks with her grandchildren. She also loved her dog, Georgie and cat, Sebastian. Marie is survived by her children: Cindy (Miguel Negrete) Perez and J.R. (Candace) Perez. Grandchildren: Raena Garcia, Xaria Garcia, Izabella Perez, Sharlie Wasekuk, Espy Wasekuk and Royce Kapayou. She is also survived by siblings: John Herrera of Raton, New Mexico, Walter Herrera of Greeley, Colorado, Naddie Martinez of Greeley, Colorado, Betty Griego of Greeley, Colorado and Glenda Herrera of Marshalltown and great grandchild “Baby T” on the way. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by her son in infancy, Rodolfo “Rudy” Perez and her parents and siblings.
