Marie Consolata Sadvari Canad (a.k.a. Marika) shuffled off this mortal coil on February 12th 2014. Born the 13th of May 1918 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Marie was preceded in death by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, her husband Salvatore, her daughter Charlotte McCabe-George and a grandson Larry Dean Domorod. She is survived by her brother, Steven (Eleanor) Sadvari of Grand Rapids, MI, her 2 daughters Antoinette Canad of Port St Lucie, FL, and Cheryl Morse of North Easton, MA, a son Edward (Sara) Canad, of Marshalltown, IA, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was characterized by an indomitable spirit, perseverance and tenacity. Widowed early with three small children, Marie met the calamities of life head on, spending many years working the swing shift at the pencil factory. Strong-willed, she lived independently up until the end. She found solace in the mellow tones of Nat King Cole, delighted in Eartha Kit, Yma Sumac, and Jay Leno. Marie loved visits to the duck pond, gardening, and she had a special fondness for azaleas. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Burial will be at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery Wilkes-Barre, PA. ... To die, to sleep ... For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come, When we have shuffled off this mortal coil.
