C. MarieDannen, 82, of Ames, formerly of Melbourne and Van Cleve, died Monday morning, June 1, at the Madrid Home for the Aging. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest in the Melbourne Cemetery at Melbourne. Marie Lynch on June 14th, 1926, in Grundy County, she was the daughter of Bert and Anna (Henningson) Lynch. She graduated from the Grundy Center High School and received her teachers certificate from Central College in Pella. On August 20th, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Dannen at Grundy Center. They made their home farming near Van Cleve with Georges parents and later south of Melbourne. They retired to Melbourne in 1983. Mrs. Dannen was a member of the now closed Van Cleve UCC, attended the St. John UCC in Melbourne, Eastern Star and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and dice. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tom of Leon, Iowa, Debra (Ed) Schmidt of Ames, and Doug of Ames, five grandchildren, her brothers HowardLynch of Gladbrook, Merv Lynch of Boston, MA, sister LavonneRenner of Toledo, sisters-in-law Deloris Lynch of Grundy Center and Fern Weir of Iowa City, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband George who died October 25, 2005, daughter-in-law Margaret Dannen and brother Wayne.
