Marietta Wood

Marietta Charlene Wood went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016. She was born April 13, 1942 to Norlan and Alice Ritter in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was a graduate of Blakesburg High School. On April 16th, 1961 she married Michael Walter Wood in Blakesburg, Iowa. Mike and Marietta moved from Blakesburg to Marshalltown, Iowa in 1964. They lived and raised their family in Marshalltown for fifty-two years. They have three children: Melissa Kane (Roland), Marcus Wood (Elisa), and Marci Krull (Chris). They have 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In addition to raising her children, Marietta enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, knitting, reading, and flower gardening and making greeting cards on the computer. Her family was the light of her life and she especially loved participating in church activities and being with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter as well as three sisters: Barb Covert, Nancy Damerval, and Cindy Scarlett; four brothers: Steve Ritter, Dan Ritter, Mark Ritter, and Joe Ritter; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister Rosalie Ritter, a brother Tim Ritter, and her parents Norlan and Alice Ritter. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Center Street Baptist Church in Marshalltown Iowa.
