Marilyn Andrews, 90, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2019 at the Bickford Cottage. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. with a public visitation held prior to the service starting at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be used at a later date once a fund has been established for her desired charities. For condolences please visit www.Mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234. Marilyn was born on December 19, 1928 in Oskaloosa, Iowa; she was the daughter of Leland and Margaret (Hyett) Lyon. She was raised in Wright, Iowa and a graduate of Cedar High School in Cedar, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines after marrying the love of her life, Dale Andrews. Then in 1968 they moved to Marshalltown to follow their dreams of owning Marshall Motor Coach. Marilyn was a philanthropist and director of the Martha Ellen Tye Foundation until her retirement at the age of 70. In her free time she loved to bowl, play cards and watch basketball. Any given time she would have a basketball game on when you came to visit. She loved big band music with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis. Marilyn was a loving, caring individual always putting others needs before hers. She lived her life in such a way to inspire and help anyone she met. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Daleen Brink Michel (Brent); stepdaughter Sherrill (Larry) Braaksma; grandchildren: Cody Brink, Tasia (Wheeler) Hulin, Brad (Lori) Comegys, Rick (Ashley) Walls, Rian Walls, Marty (Franchette) Braaksma, Tracy (Jon) Rivers, and Jenny (Travis) Herduin; 16 great-grandchildren, and brother Marvin (Sharon) Lyon. She is also mourned by her lifelong friends Dolores Leonard and Jack Gethman. She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, son Brian Walls, and her parents Leland and Margaret.
