Marilyn Bryant

Marilyn J. Bryant, 74, lifelong resident of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at State Center Specialty Care. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home. The family will hold a celebration of life to be announced. Born Marilyn Jean Thompson on May 21, 1947 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Thomas and Jean (Owen) Thompson. Marilyn graduated from Marshalltown High School. She was united in marriage to David Bryant, though later divorced. She was blessed with three children. Marilyn worked at the Iowa Veterans Home for over 10 years as a Med Aide, followed by 23 years of production work to JBS – Swift before she retired. She was an active member of the Salvation Army and attended worship services there. She had a passion for horses and her beloved dog. Marilyn is survived by her three children: Russell Thompson of Des Moines, Cynthia Bryant and Jeff Bryant, both of Marshalltown; her sisters: Sandra (Stephen) Thompson-Hardwick and Carol Dannen; her brother, Tommy Thompson; god-daughter, Nikki and numerous cousins. In death, she rejoins her parents, sisters: Connie (Raymond) Rickett and Brenda Neave and brother-in-law, Gary Dannen.
