Marilyn Joyce Dejong

Marilyn Joyce DeJong, 77, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Harmony of Marshalltown.

A visitation for Marilyn will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Marilyn Turbett was born on June 21, 1947 in Marshalltown to Charles and Doris (Gillespie) Turbett. She graduated from Tama/Toledo High School in 1965. Marilyn was raised in Tama and would later move to Mountain View/ San Jose, California area. While in California, Marilyn ran child care from her home. Marilyn moved back to the Marshalltown area in 1982. While back home, she cleaned office buildings until 2021. Marilyn was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Christopher (Heather Kreider) DeJong of Mesa, Arizona and Jennifer (Tim) Castle of Gilman. Grandchildren: Keegan DeJong and Sophia DeJong and sister: Dorothy “Dottie” (Brad) Theophilus of Marshalltown.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Doris; sister: Sandra Testa and three nephews.
