October 24, 1943 — October 17, 2018

Marilyn Sue Hemminger, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018 at her home with her family by her side and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marilyn and her family.   Visitation will be on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown with a luncheon to follow after the burial.  Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. For more information or to send a condolence, please visit: www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Marilyn Mollohan was born October 24, 1943 in Iola, Kansas to Roger and Blanche Morgan Mollohan. She graduated from Iola High School in 1961. On April 18, 1994, Marilyn was united in marriage to David Hemminger Sr. in Las Vegas. Marilyn worked for Wolfe Eye Clinic for 21 years, retiring in 2006. She also previously worked for Marshalltown Trowel. Marilyn had a passion for golf and was a member of the Women’s Legion Golf Association in Marshalltown. Marilyn and Dave also enjoyed vacationing during the winter months in Perdido Key, Florida. Marilyn loved life. Her family and friends were her greatest joy.  She was always up for any adventure as long as it sounded like fun! If it included the beach, wine, and a casino, she was even happier.  Always smile when you think of Marilyn, her laughter was contagious and will be forever missed!   Marilyn is survived by her husband of 24 years, Dave. Children: Suzette (Brian) Dostal of Cedar Rapids, Bric (Debbie) Garrett of Blue Springs, Missouri and Chip Garrett of Des Moines as well as step children: David (Joyce) Hemminger Jr. of Le Grand, Deb Specht of Marshalltown and Dan Hemminger of Marshalltown. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brennon, Natasha, Mitch, Grant, Noah, Drew and four step grandchildren along with four step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Judy Johnston and niece Roxy (Ken) Dzikiewicz of Alpine, New York and half-brother Ron Mollohan and family of Topeka, Kansas, as well as stepbrothers, Will and Ron Cleaver and their families.   Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Blanche, step father Bud Cleaver and brother Tom Mollohan.
