Marilyn K. Herrald, 61, of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Jech officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the funeral home.Following cremation, the graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marilyn and her family.Marilyn Kay Stewart was born in rural Monroe, IA on October 24, 1950; she was the daughter of Amos Eugene Stewart Jr. and Melba Lucille (Silvers) Stewart. Growing up, Marilyn enjoyed riding the horses and singing in the church choir. She started attending school in Albia, IA and then later graduated from the West Marshall High School in State Center, IA. She later went on to earn her Nurses Aid Certificate. On October 30, 1971, Marilyn married Rolland James Jim Herrald in Nevada, IA. She was employed at the JC Penneys in Marshalltown for a number of years. She was a member of the Lioness Club, The Day Lily Club, The Secret Sisters of JC Penneys, and New Hope Christian Church. Marilyn loved tending to her flower gardens, making jewelry and spending time with her family. She was also a collector of Jim Shore figurines and Terry Redlin paintings.She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Rolland James Jim Herrald of Marshalltown, IA; her two daughters: Sue Ellen (Jeff) Warnell of Johnston, IA and Michelle Lynn (Pat) Bell of Marshalltown, IA; her four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Allison, Devon and Megan; her step-grandchild, Kyle; her father, Amos Eugene (Riverta) Stewart Jr. of Albia, IA; her six siblings: Dale (Susan) Stewart of Albia, IA, Beverly Smith of Knoxville, IA, Dean Stewart of Missouri, Ruth Stewart of Lincoln, NE, Gary (Kim) Stewart of rural Bussey, IA, and James Lee (Melinda) Stewart of rural Albia, IA; and her many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her mother; her brother, Robert Stewart; and infant siblings, Nancy and John.
