Marilyn Jeanine Shutt was born to parents Orville and Inez (Hubber) Shutt on November 7, 1934 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up and attended high school in the Marshalltown Community School District. Upon graduation, Marilyn worked for Great Plains Stone Container Factory. She eventually settled down and was united in marriage to Richard Jacobs. The two were the proud parents of five children. Marilyn often moved around whether traveling or moving to find new views. Throughout her life she lived in Marshalltown, Des Moines, Colfax, and finally Houghton Lake, Michigan. She was a loving and caring person for her family and her friends. In her free time Marilyn was a member of the Red Hat Society, Des Moines Baptist Church, and ABATE of Iowa. As for her hobbies, they ranged far and wide, some of which included coloring her adult coloring books, reading, baking, being involved in her children’s lives and loving them unconditionally, her four legged furry companions (especially Sammy), frequently setting out on new adventures with her travels, dancing. She was one who had a one of a kind humor where she could make just about anybody laugh and she was never a stranger to anybody. She could make friends with anyone and would continue to talk their ear off. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Teresa Bailey, Randy Jacobs and Jackie Daugherty; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great- grandchildren and her sisters JoAnn Stafford and Beverly Hammond. In death, she rejoins her husband Richard; her parents Orville and Inez; her son Richard and her daughter Mindy; her granddaughter Ashley; brothers Ronnie and Eddie; and sisters June and Karen.
