Mariyln Rudy

The kind and loving spirit of Marilyn Rudy, 82, of Marshalltown, left this world on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 7, 2010, at the MMSC. She took Jakes hand once again and joined him and Doug in heaven. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born on a warm summer day (Sunday, August 14, 1932) at the family home in Green Mountain, Marilyn was the daughter of Floyd Oliver and Ruth (Murty) Kelley. She graduated as the class valedictorian with her class of 1950 a class of 11 classmates. She later attended the Central Iowa Business College. On September 16, 1956, at the Bethel Grove Church south of Liscomb, Marilyn married the love of her life, Jake Rudy. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives and were blessed with two children, Doug and Karen. Marilyn, known by many as Mary, began a career in banking, first at Commercial Bank from 1952 to 1960 when she and Jake began their family. She returned to banking in 1968 at Security Bank and worked there until 1993. Left to cherish Marilyns memory are her daughter Karen Rudy of Marshalltown; sisters: Norma (Wayne) Somers and Lillian Somers all of Green Mountain; her dog, Lady; along with many nieces and nephews. Marilyn treasured her neighborhood family on Laurel Drive. In death, she rejoined Jake; her son, Doug; her dog, Stubby; and siblings: Opal Kelley, Hazel Bonham, Richard Kelley, and Bill Kelley.
