Marjorie L. Baker

Marjorie L. Baker, 83, of Marshalltown, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Grandview Heights Rehab and Health Care. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marge and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Marjorie Lois Hanson was born on July 3, 1926, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Lewis and Martha Hanson. She attended school at Sioux Rapids High School. On November 19, 1947, Marge married Herman Baker in Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple lived in Colorado, Terril, and Sioux Rapids. Herman died on July 21, 1984. Marge moved to Marshalltown in 1991 to be closer to her daughter and her family. Marge worked as a waitress in early years, earned her CNA certification, worked with Herman as a custodian at Terril Schools, and worked as a CNA in Sioux Rapids, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, gardening, cooking, baking pies, and crocheting. Surviving Marge is her daughter, Lynda Hauser, of Marshalltown; her three grandchildren Lucas (Saran) Hauser of Melbourne, Lance Hauser of Marshalltown, and Lacey Hauser of Marshalltown; her great-grandson Lane Hauser of Melbourne; her siblings Gerald (Iris) Hanson of Spencer, IA, Donna (Bill) Frederick of Webb, IA, Betty Anderson of Hubbard, IA, Marcia (Clark) Jensen of Ankeny, IA, and Miriam Ingram of Columbus, NE. In death she rejoins her parents, her husband Herman, her brother David Hanson, her brothers-in-law Myron Anderson and Ike Ingram, a daughter in infancy, and her son-in-law Larry A. Hauser.
